Are you mechanically minded with a knack for problem solving? Looking to kickstart a career in drafting and design? We’re looking for a Trainee Draftsperson to join our team and grow with us. No prior drafting experience is required – we’ll provide full training. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop technical drawing skills and gain exposure to real-world engineering and manufacturing processes.
About the role
As a Trainee Draftsperson you will learn to produce detailed drawings for structural steel, mechanical equipment, chutes, and civil design components across the entire Storage and Projects product range.
The successful candidate will undertake traineeship studies in Certificate IV Engineering and Drafting in conjunction with full time work and will be based at our Walla Walla site (30 minutes drive from Albury).
What you'll learn

How to produce details drawings using AutoCAD software

Design principles for structural steel, mechanical systems and civil items

Interpretation of blueprints, schematics and engineering plans

Collaboration with engineers, fabricators and project teams

Kotzur Design team office protocols including maintenance of records and documentation
Ideal candidate

Trade background or experience in fabrication, mechanical fitting, or construction (advantageous but not essential)

Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in design and drafting

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Aptitude for mathematics including geometry and trigonometry

Basic understanding of CAD or design software (or eager to learn!)

Strong organisation / time management skills
