About the role

Kotzur is seeking a talented Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team in Walla Walla, NSW (30-minute scenic drive from Albury). Reporting to the CFO, you will play a pivotal role optimising profitability and pricing, enhancing operational efficiency and costs, and providing detailed insights and analyse that supports strategic decision-making across the business and drives financial performance.

What you'll be doing

  • Support Profitability: Provide granular cost data that directly informs accurate product pricing, leading to optimised profit margins and a clear understanding of which products are most profitable.

  • Enhance Operational Efficiency: Identify and analyse cost variances, highlighting areas of inefficiency, waste, or overspending in production, thus enabling targeted improvements and cost reduction initiatives.

  • Support Strategic Decision-Making: Deliver critical financial insights that empower leaders to make informed decisions regarding production volumes, inventory levels, outsourcing, capital investments, and new product development.

  • Improve Budgeting and Forecasting: Contribute essential cost breakdowns and trend analysis, allowing for the creation of more precise and realistic budgets and financial forecasts, which are vital for planning and resource allocation.

  • Optimise Inventory Management: Ensure accurate valuation and control of inventory, minimizing losses from obsolescence, spoilage, and discrepancies, which ties up capital and impacts cash flow.

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finaance or a related field

  • Experience in a cost accounting or financial analysis role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify cost-saving opportunities

  • Proficient in the use of accounting software, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively liaise with both financial and non-financial stakeholders

  • Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles, such as standard costing, activity-based costing, and variance analysis

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines

  • Proficiency working with ERP systems (D365 experience would be advantageous)
