Employee Highlight – Corey’s Story

Corey’s journey at Kotzur started in November 2022. Hailing from a background as a farmhand, Corey has brought with him an appreciation for the significance of quality farm equipment, particularly when it comes to on-farm storage solutions.

When faced with changing circumstances on the farm where he was working, Corey sought a new path and contacted an employment agency. The agency swiftly recognised his interests and skills, ultimately introducing him to Kotzur.

Initially, Corey envisioned himself in a welding role, but the employment agency saw a different fit for him within Kotzur’s sheet metal team and Corey accepted the role as a Machine Operator.

Corey takes on diverse tasks in his role, from pressing wall and roof sheets to pressing small parts. His responsibilities extend to operating machinery like the YSD machines, the Gasparini and the AcraBend, which are all brake presses used to make different components needed for the manufacturing of both transportable and built onsite silos.

He also operates roll formers which are used to produce wall sheets for the General Product and General Product Elevated silos, along with rolling K-Rail, aeration equipment, and roof stiffeners. It is a role that requires problem-solving skills and critical thinking, aspects that Corey relishes.

Corey enjoys the dynamic nature of his job, each day presents new challenges. He said using the press is his favourite task because it provides him with constant opportunities to learn and think creatively.

Looking ahead, Corey sees a promising future at Kotzur. The company’s diverse departments offer room for growth, providing a clear path for those willing to explore various aspects of the business. His advice for those considering a career in the industry echoes his own experiences – embrace challenges, be prepared to learn on the go, and take on opportunities as they arise.
